It really is pretty much all good news lately.
The dinner last Friday went almost too well to talk about. There were some issues with the blanquette, but when a French person takes a spoonful of your onion soup and says, “Oh! But this is not easy–this takes time!” you know you have some leeway for the little things, like overly thin and tangy sauce and a fifteen-minute delay when the hostess forgets to put on the rice.
Anyway, everyone stayed awake and got along and ended up full, so there it is.
And I’ve opened up the four-pound jar of extra-chunky peanut butter that Nick brought back from the U.S., so I’ve been able to resist eating Jolie’s treats–although I haven’t exactly been able to give them all to her yet, either. Give me time, okay?
Speaking of time, it theoretically won’t be long until I have a working French cell phone of my very own. Getting one has been a process strikingly similar to getting a residence permit in its complexity–hell; they even require a lot of the same paperwork. Cross your fingers.
And the big news: the wedding photos are here. Like…here:
And here:
And here:
There’s nearly two thousand of them, but we’re working on sorting and tagging and getting them onto our photo page, where you will be able to see (and download) as many as you want. And you’ll want. They’re gorgeous.
